Artist Sam Newcomb's primary source of inspiration comes from nature and wildlife. Her paintings portray the rich colors and textures of her various subject matter. Occasionally working solely with one medium, Sam's preferred media is a combination of watercolor, gouache and color pencil. Sam grew up in California, and later lived in Colorado for many years before moving to Kansas. Sam is primarily self-taught, but also holds an associate's degree in illustration and design which helped refine her skills. Sam's art is found in many private residences across the states. Sam has worked on several illustration projects including designing book covers and greeting cards. She has freelanced for several companies including Current, Inc. and Walter Drake Publishing. During her fine art career, Sam has exhibited and won awards in group exhibitions at Pikes Peak Community College, The Business of Art Center in Manitou Springs and Pikes Peak Watercolor Society.
