"Art is a journey of color, light and texture." Dave Reiter has been exploring relationships between these three elements of art for a number of years. Dave was born and raised in a rural setting in Montana and moved to Denver, CO to pursue a degree from the Art Institute of Colorado. Now painting with a focus on nature and landscapes, Dave wants people to engage in his paintings by taking a moment to reflect on their own lives. His inspiration comes from real places he's visited throughout the country. "Usually something grabs my attention and that starts the inspiration process. This can be as simple as the way the shapes within the landscape interact with each other to the way the light hits a landscape. Sometimes, it is the very subject matter that interests me." The colors in his palette often include earth tones, something the artist notes may be linked to his upbringing in a rural community in Montana and growing up with the family farm. Texture is another key element to his work. By using multiple layers, David creates images that are interesting for both visual and tactile senses. David has exhibited his work throughout Colorado, but also participates in art shows on a national level. He also showcases his work through fundraising events and festivals across the US.
