Carolyn Denver is a lifelong artist living in Wichita, Kansas. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in studio arts from Wichita State University where she graduated Magna cum Laude, with emphasis in painting and art history. She has also studied painting with several nationally known artists, including Phil Starke, Carol Marine, Daniel Keyes, and Kim Casebeer.
“My inspiration comes from the world around me. I love nature and the open spaces and big skies of Kansas”, Carolyn states. “Resolving the complications of fleeting light and shadow, color effects and atmospheric mood is a continuous learning process with infinite possibilities. I believe there is a need in every human being to relate to the natural environment. People are drawn to the permanent, enduring quality found in nature and the landscape.”Although Carolyn works in several mediums, including watercolor, pastel and printmaking, oil painting remains her passion. She particularly enjoys plein air painting. Exhibition background includes Mark Arts, Wichita Art Museum, Botanica, Reuben Saunders Gallery, Gallery 12, all in Wichita, KS; Coutts Art Museum, El Dorado, KS; Peninsula School of Art and Door County Plein Air Festival, Fish Creek, WI.
